This notice explains what the Mortise website at usemortise.com collects, why, and who processes it. Questions or requests go to malachi@usemortise.com.
What this website collects
- Visiting the site. Our hosting provider, Vercel, processes the technical information needed to deliver and protect the site, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and when.
- Emailing us. If you email us, we receive your message and any details you include. Our email is provided by Google Workspace.
The site has no contact form, advertising pixels or cross-site tracking, and its own code doesn't set cookies. The fence & deck calculator on the homepage runs entirely in your browser: the numbers you enter aren't sent to us, stored or tracked.
How we use it
To respond to your enquiry, arrange and hold calls, discuss and deliver agreed work, and keep the website running securely. We don't sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
Legal basis
Where UK or EU data protection law applies, we rely on our legitimate interests in running a secure website and responding to business enquiries, and on taking steps at your request before entering into a contract when we discuss working together.
Who processes it
- Vercel Inc.: website hosting (privacy policy)
- Google LLC: email through Google Workspace (privacy policy)
- People at Mortise who need the information to respond to you or prepare a proposal
These providers may process information outside the UK, including in the United States, under their own safeguards for international transfers.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry emails only while they're needed to respond, arrange calls, provide agreed work, meet legal obligations or resolve disputes. Hosting logs are kept by Vercel under its own retention settings.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your information, to object to or restrict its use, and to receive a copy. Email malachi@usemortise.com to make a request. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
If you're in the UK, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. Residents of some US states have similar rights under state law, and we won't treat you differently for using them.
Changes
We update this notice when our tools or practices change. The date at the top shows the current version.
